Luanne was born May 11, 1951 to Betty and Norton Gossett. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley area of Southern California with her younger brother Paul.
She was the third generation to attend Wilshire Blvd. Temple (see the Purim Queen photos).
She worked at various jobs in the area, including dry cleaning like her father, finally settling in with what was then Pacific Bell Telephone, a successor of AT&T in that part of the country (it is once again AT&T). She worked with them through all the company changes until she retired at age 55 after more than 30 years of service. She had jobs as an operator, in repairs and in the business office where she handled everything from bomb threats to the White House.
