Beaches and Buddhas
Ko Samui is an island off the coast of Thailand. It is a beach resort and famous for enormous statues of the Buddha—standing, sitting and reclining—as well as statues of other religious figures. All of them are very colorful, and did we say, huge?
We circumnavigated the island on its 50 kilometer road. Coconuts are the primary crop, and many of the farms use trained monkeys to harvest the ripe coconut. We were able to see them do this.
