The exclamation point sign that may have led you to this page is not uncommon on the roads. As you might suspect, it is telling you there is a surprise ahead, so pay attention.
With the steering wheel on the right-hand side of all vehicles, all oncoming vehicles look like they are going to crash in to you. At least to United States driver eyes. Consequently, in Australia a left turn is a “normal”, not across traffic turn and a right turn is more involved, like a “normal” left turn to us.
Also, there are some signs, traffic and non-traffic, that seem exceptionally polite, for lack of a better word.
