Because it is there, and Luanne and had never been. In October we flew to Seattle and spent four days sightseeing. The weather cooperated with our tourist activities; that is, no rain.
We of course took a Segway tour of the city, as well as the Underground Seattle tour that goes through the city 15-30 feet below the existing streets. This underground part of Seattle was the original street level of the city when it was first founded. Not a good depth for a city by the sea with tides and flow in and out!
We also visited Pike Market. For a retail business to be there, it must be the first one of its name. So you can see the first Starbucks in the world, as well as the first Sur L’Table.
We saw the city from the Space Needle, no longer the tallest structure in Seattle, and from the 73rd floor of the Columbia Center, which is the tallest building in the city.
Next to the Space Needle is the Chihuly glass exhibit. Amazing sculptures by Seattle’s native son, Dale Chihuly.
Later we rented a car and drove south to Tacoma—great vegan restaurant and a phenomenal Glass Museum.
