Luanne and Ira rented a condo for the week (view from the balcony shown below). The location in River North (of the Loop) was ideal for Michele and Joe, who are west of the Loop.
There were three variations of the graduation—the University of Chicago does not skimp on pomp and ceremony. There was the hooding ceremony in the chapel that was just for the School of Social Service Administration and each graduate was individually called and hooded; the all-University graduation for 17,000 people, complete with speakers; and the diploma reception where the actual diplomas were received by the graduates. Independently we hosted a poolside party for Michele, her friends and their families.
